The International Association of Women Police created this memorial site to honor those women who have gone before us and to those who have made the ultimate sacrifice while serving to protect the citizens of their communities.
"Angel Wings"
The song that is playing in the background is titled "Angel Wings" by Peter Prince and CoCo LeVan.
The song "Angel Wings" was originally titled "The Ultimate Sacrifice". The song was inspired by the heroism and tragic death of Mary Ann Collura, Fair Lawn Police. Police Officer Mary Ann Collura was shot and killed by a drug dealer who was involved in a car chase which ended in Fair Lawn, New Jersey on April 17, 2003. Officer Collura was not even supposed to be on duty that night, but she had agreed to work for another brother officer. Officer Collura and another officer engaged in a struggle with the suspect and during the fight was shot and killed. Her killer fled to Florida and three days later he was killed in gun battle with Florida police.
"The Ultimate Sacrifce" was written by New Jersey Country Music Association songwriter Peter Prince. CoCo LeVan suggested some lyric changes and "Angel Wings" was born as a kind of anthem that celebrates all those, like Mary Ann Collura, who put their lives on the line each day.
Peter Prince has given the International Association of Women Police permission to use the song "Angel Wings" on our website. In addition, we have been given permission to sell the CD on our website. All proceeds will go to support the IAWP Foundation. The price of the CD is $10 USD.
