2009 International Recognition and Scholarship Honor ![]()
Detective Lebethe joined the South Africa Police Service in 1998. After completing basic training, she was assigned as a Constable working in the community Service Centre. In 2001, she joined the General Detectives. In 2005, she was attached to the Operation Greed Task Team, investigating bank robberies; cash-in-transit heists; casino robberies; chain store thefts; and truck hijackings. In 2007, she was selected to join the Phokeng Organized Crime Unit. In this assignment, Sergeant Lebethe is responsible for the investigation of corruption, drug dealing, endangered species' violations; armed robberies; theft of diamond and precious metals; human trafficking; and terrorism. She was recruited from her position as a general detective for the unit by the Commander, Senior Superintendent Nick Pitsoane after she was voted as the "best performing detective" for 2005.
