2005
2005 International Recognition and Scholarship Honor
Abhilasha Bisht
The IAWP awards annually one scholarship to enable a female serving police officer from outside the USA to attend the conference. The 2005 winner is Superintendent Abhilasha Bisht from the foothills of the Himalayas in India. Superintendent Bisht has 11 years of service in the Indian Police Service, during which time she has served in a variety of roles, and spent 12 months with the International Police Mission in Kosovo. Abhilasha feels strongly that "police women in India have not been given the rightful place in terms of placements and service opportunities" for a variety of reasons. During the Leeds 2005 conference Superintendent Bisht met many colleagues from around the world and shared varied experiences. Congratulations! Superintendent Abhilasha Bisht.
